Case Western Receives Mathlete Rose Bowl Bid over Rensselaer Polytechnic - Tradition Blamed

December 4, 2007

As well we know, Mathletics are a major part of any University’s repertoire of activities - without Mathletes, where would national powerhouses like Carnegie Mellon and University of California Riverside be? Nowhere, that’s where! To build a successful program to attract the nations top Mathletes, you need to exhibit not only the facilities but also the following and environment that stimulates the mathlete - not unlike the athlete. However, he or she can be swayed by a school’s tradition and history of success, not merely wins and losses. Part of those winning ways are folded into the tradition - but that’s why it’s important to allow for up and coming Mathletics programs to try their hands at the Great-Grandaddy of Them All - the Mathlete Rose Bowl.

Mike Leach’s Fantasy Camp Preview

May 9, 2007

I’ll admit it. When I first arrived at Texas Tech I didn’t know much about their football team. I grew up with Longhorns on my dad’s side and a bunch of crappy Ivy League schools on my mother’s. However, after my first Tech football game-a thrilling 200 to 175 win over rival New Mexico State Christian Tech-I became more interested in the high-scoring Red Raider offense.

Then, it happened. I was in my dorm room recovering from a hard night drinking with a beer bong of Coors. I flicked on my roommate’s TV to find an strange man talking about the football team. It wasn’t until a reporter yelled “Coach Leach! Coach Leach!” that I realized the true greatness of the Tech football team. Read the rest of this entry »

How to become a writer at H2DN

May 8, 2007

At H2DN, we have a tough screening process. You have to be more than just knowledgeable about college sports. You have to be a huge fan of a college football team. We don’t want people that just “love the sport.” We want people that are a bit crazy about a team. For all you aspiring H2DN writers, please take a look at the following requirements:

Favorite Team

First, you must have a favorite team. And if it isn’t from a BCS conference you are working an uphill battle. And if they don’t go to bowl games, you might as well just forget it. We are snobby. If your team has hot cheerleaders and you can provide enough pictures, we have been known to make exceptions. Read the rest of this entry »

The Dating Game: Bret Bielema

April 30, 2007

In the midst of a rant about the BCS system, Notre Dame, and being disrespected, an emotional Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema broke down and started crying about his personal life, too.

“When you’re not married, you’ve got to kind of go to other people,” Bielema said.

Bielema’s plush office sits high above the grandstands at Camp Randall Stadium, with a panoramic view of the field. But yes, it sometimes gets a little lonely at the top. The coach is single and says he isn’t currently in a serious relationship.

“I’m pretty much trying to focus on the football team,” Bielema said. “I’m not saying it’s not available, or out there. But at this point, it’s very difficult, that side of my life. But also, probably because I’ve been stubborn in the past. I’ve had several multi-year relationships, and you know, when it comes time to put that little diamond ring on, I tend to get a little nervous.”

Since we can’t rewind time and watch a Sugar Bowl matchup that wasn’t terrible, we’ve done the next best thing - Bret Bielema, welcome to the Dating Game!

April 17, 2007

Hell2DaNaw primarily focuses on college football. However, as you may have noticed, it gets a little slow here during the offseason.
