H2DN 2007 Previews - Vanderbilt Commodores

Ah Vanderbilt. They’re not the football school that UT is. They aren’t the basketball team that Memphis is. They’re somewhere in the middle with a decent baseball team. So what are they? They’re the SEC East’s warmup game, sadly enough. They’re a pretty big school in the middle of Nashville, TN, and pretty much the only redeeming factor is the high quality of the females.

But what can we expect out of Vanderbilt in the 2007 season for football? They look to be very well off, returning 8 of 11 starters on both offense and defense, but unfortunately, they’re STILL Vanderbilt, and unless another Jay Cutler comes along, they STILL won’t finish higher than 4th in the east.

But like I said, the females…

Key Offseason Event: Returning 8 of 11 starters on both sides of the ball

Additional Notes: The ‘Dores have a good amount of talent, but unfortunately this is still not the year for the in the stacked SEC East. 8 home games would be favorable to any team, but games against Bama, Georgia, Kentucky and Wake Forest look to be difficult games and may leave students disappointed (not that they aren’t used to it). Expect Vandy to win easy ones against Richmond, Ole Miss, Eastern Michigan and Miami (OH). The SEC schedule is incredibly tough with expected losses against Kentucky, Georgia, @Auburn, @South Carolina, @Florida and @Tennessee. However, this team has the tools for an upset this season, and it may come down to Kentucky and Alabama (most likely Kentucky). Final standings should be 5-7.

Fun Fact: QB Chris Nickson was only one of two quarterbacks in the NCAA last year to throw for 2,000 yards and rush for another 650.

Real Fact: QB Chris Nickson will be a wide reciever on an NFL practice squad in 2 years
