Carson Butler Fights For His Rights

University of Michigan starting tight end Carson Butler was recently kicked off the team, along with teammate and friend Chris Richards. Why? According to the Michigan Daily Butler and Richards attacked a fellow student for ‘no reason.’ Yet the paper goes on to explain that not only had the student asked to borrow an iron, but he had allegedly “talked crap” about Richards in class. I’m no psychologist, but those seem like just the kind of aggressive actions that could cause a finely honed athlete like Mr. Butler to fly into an uncontrollable rage.

Besides the obvious provocation, their are so many other things wrong with this story. First of all, it states that Richards heard the “crap talking” while in class. In class. Let that sink in for a minute. Ok, now what was a FOOTBALL PLAYER doing in class? What kind of world is it when we not only expect our athletes to attend actual classes, but then we punish them when they naturally beat up some punk, who was probably only able to get into the university on some sort of academic scholarship, for talking bad about them?

This is just another worrying anti-athletics movement by the university, and I for one have had enough! It’s time to bring back the glory days, do you think Charles Woodson never punched out a cop? John Navarre never pistol whipped a bitch? Back then these natural stress relieving activities for our burdened down champions were not only expected, they were accepted. One can only hope that a school with less ridiculous discipline will accept Mr. Butler and allow him to live out his dream in peace, I certainly hope to one day see him suit up for the Jackson State Penitentiary, or perhaps the University of Miami.

Until then I’ll only be able to hope that Adrian Arrington is robbing a gas station as we speak as is his god given right as a college football player. God Bless you Carson, and we’ll all be rooting for you in your upcoming trial.
