Your Favorite Team: Preseason Predictions

As spring practice gets underway for Your Favorite Team, many questions naturally arise. Does Coach still have what it takes? Is Young Skill Position Player the next big thing? Will Old Skill Position Player be able to coordinate his efforts with New Freshman? What new tricks will the new coordinator/assistant coach bring to the table? What effect will the departing NFL-Caliber Player’s loss have on his side of the ball?

Quite frankly, Your Favorite Team will quickly turn into one of the contenders for Conference Champion. The preexisting pieces will quickly be gelled by some key returning players. In fact, if the BCS computers don’t screw you over, a spot in the Championship Game is not out of the picture at all.

Last years offense did exactly what it needed to to win games, holding onto the ball and getting enough points to bring the team to Last Years Record. Old Skill Position Player capably led the team, putting up respectable numbers, and in a few stats, was actually leading the conference for a few games before playing Rival. His offseason training, and working with Position Coach, have made him a legit candidate for All-Conference. Young Skill Position Player will continue his phoenix-like rise: don’t be surprised if next year there’s whispers about adding a Heisman to the trophy case. The offensive line returns mostly intact, and Offensive Line Coach feels confident about building a beast of a line.

On the other side of the ball, the defense preformed admirably as well, creating a few key turnovers. In fact, Star Linebacker was clearly the emotional leader. Star Linebacker’s ability to fill gaps in the line and cover all routes over the middle let Defensive Coordinator create havoc on opposing offensives, until a dirty hit during the game at Rival left him on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

“It killed me to be out for the rest of the season. When I’m physically out of the game, I’m emotionally out of it to. But I’ve been spending time with Trainer, and my rehab is well ahead of schedule,” Star Linebacker told Local Media. “I’m glad to be taking reps now, and I’ll be in full form for the spring game.” When asked about getting revenge on Rival, Star Linebacker replied “You could say I have some unfinished business with Rival. I’ll be ready for them, but I won’t give them anything postable.”

The defensive line returns mostly intact, and Defensive Line Coach feels confident about building a beast of a line.

Looking at the schedule, the non-conference games against Cupcake State, Cake University, and Temple all are sure wins, along with Conference’s Academic School. The early games against CS, CU, and TU will allow the freshman and sophomores to integrate themselves into their respective roles, and while the conference opener against In-Conference School will be a sizable leap in difficulty, Your Favorite Team should be able to bring home the W there as well.

The biggest question marks are against Last Years Conference Champ and Rival. Last Years Conference Champ has lost some skilled players to the NFL, but they reload more than they rebuild now. Likewise, Rival gave Your Favorite Team a tough game, but they’ve lost more than they expected, and don’t quite seem to have the same leadership and intangibles that Your Favorite Team does.

Worst case scenario? Another crushing loss to Rival, and only the wins against Cupcake State, Cake University, Temple, and Conference’s Academic School allow you to squeak into Bowl With Corporate Sponsor Prominently Placed. The more likely and best case scenario has Coach accepting a group of Nouns, representing their bid into the Noun Bowl.

With the way he rags on my team I don’t even know why I still read Generic Douchebag Sportswriter

I really think Perpetual Second Teamer can really make some noise this year. Look for him to make some big plays when Mediocre Starter has a bad game.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see what Feel Good Story has in the tank after impressing us last season

I wonder when Over the Hill Coach will retire? He’s had some great years but he is getting older now.

If 28-year-old Sophomore Quarterback can stay healthy, he could lead us back to Bowl Game in Florida.

Honestly I dunno if they can beat State and Eastern with the QBs they have now. But when they finally get High School Superstar under center, watch it.
